Early voting delays continue for Illinois primary
CHICAGO (AP) - Early voting will be delayed a few more days in Lake County.
Election officials were awaiting a decision on a statewide candidate's ballot challenge, which came Friday afternoon. An appellate court said Democratic attorney general candidate Scott Drury can be on the ballot.
Lake County had initially wanted to start in-person early voting Friday, but testing ballots will take time. Lake County Clerk Carla Wyckoff says she hopes to be ready Tuesday.
The Illinois State Board of Elections estimates roughly 30 jurisdictions didn't start in-person early voting Feb. 8 as planned for the Illinois primary. That includes some of the biggest counties in Illinois. Election officials say their list isn't exhaustive or official.
Cook and DuPage counties, along with the city of Chicago, are waiting as late as Feb. 21.
