26-year-old nursing assistant killed in Chicago drive-by shooting

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A man died in a drive-by shooting Thursday night in the Cottage Grove Heights neighborhood on the South Side.

At 8:45 p.m., 26-year-old Tanny Jackson was shot in the chest multiple times while he stood on a front porch in the 9500 block of South Woodlawn, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The shooter drove away inside a silver sport-utility vehicle.

Jackson was taken in critical condition to Trinity Hospital, where he succumbed to his gunshot wounds, authorities said. He lived in the same block where he was shot.

Area South detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
