The annual "Big Sit" bird watching event is almost here and flying up quickly.

The family-friendly event, put on by six Cook County nature preserves, will take place May 7 between 5:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at nature preserves in Barrington Hills, River Forest, Willow Springs Northbrook, Lemont and South Holland.

Lambrini Lukidis, of the Forest Preserves of Cook County and Sarah Rose, a naturalist at Railside Nature Center, join Good Day Chicago to talk about the event and why nature is so important.
