FOX Furry Friend of the Week: Adoptable cat Persimmon

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - FOX 32 News has teamed up with no-kill shelter PAWS Chicago to bring you an adoptable pet each week. This week, we're featuring an incredibly sweet named Persimmon!

Persimmon is an adorable 2-year-old cat who is smart, playful, stubborn, and affectionate.

This former stray was described by his foster mom as being “a charming blend of house cat and street cat” and became his foster parents’ constant companion – sleeping in bed with them, providing supervision while they worked from home, and watching TV with them in the evening.

Persimmon is Feline Immunodeficiency Virus positive, which is a virus that depresses the immune system and hinders a cat’s ability to protect himself against other infections. Many FIV+ cats live long and healthy lives without signs of infection! This does mean that Persimmon can only share his home with other FIV+ cats. With a little patience and a lot of love, Persimmon is sure to make a wonderful addition to his future forever home and provide a lucky adopter with many years of companionship and laughter.

Persimmon is part of PAWS Chicago’s Featured Five program, aimed toward uniting animals with special adopters who can provide them with a specific lifestyle and health needs. His adoption will come with special perks like one year of free Merrick Pet Care cat food. Learn more about adopting Persimmon at pawschicago.org, call 773-935-PAWS, or stop by their Lincoln Park Adoption Center at 1997 N. Clybourn Avenue in Chicago.
