WILL COUNTY - Two people were killed and five others were injured in a fiery crash Tuesday in Will County.
The accident involved three vehicles near the intersection of 143rd Street and Kings Road in Homer Glen.
According to the Will County Sheriff's office, a Nissan SUV drove into oncoming traffic and struck a Lincoln SUV before running head on into a Hyundai that was carrying three people, causing it to engulf in flames.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 49-year-old woman, suffered extensive injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Her front-seat passenger, a 77-year-old man, was taken to Silver Cross Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The second passenger who was in the back seat was pronounced dead at the scene. She was 73 years old. All three were family members from Orland Park.
The Will County coroner has not yet identified the names of the deceased.
The driver of the Nissan, 37-year-old Chris Haramija, was taken to a local hospital with multiple injuries. His front seat passenger, a 41-year-old man, was listed in critical condition. A 33-year-old man who was in the backseat was taken to a local hospital with multiple non-life-threatening injuries.

Haramija was cited for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and transportation of open alcohol.
One man who lives about a mile away says the speed limit on 143rd is 45 mph, but everyone drives faster. Nick Pacetti said these accidents, sadly, are inevitable.
"I get nervous in the neighborhood here, too. People speed through it. Kids are trying to play," said Pacetti. "They want to make it better, they want to make it four lanes. I don’t know if that's going to make it better or worse, but it’s going to happen eventually."
The investigation is ongoing.
