PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Three teenagers – including two gang members - are in custody in connection with the murder of a girl whose body was left in a creek in Prince George’s County.
Investigators say the suspects and the victim met at an apartment complex in the 6300 block of 64th Avenue in Riverdale and walked into a wooded area.
According to police, 14-year-old Ariana Funes-Diaz of Adelphi died from blunt force trauma in the wooded area.
Police have identified three suspects in connection with the murder:
- 16-year-old Josue Fuentes-Ponce of Bladensburg
- 17-year-old Joel Escobar of Northeast D.C.
- 14-year-old Cynthia Hernandez-Nucamendi of Lothian
They are trying to identify a fourth suspect. All of the suspects will be charged as adults.
All three are charged with first-degree murder.
