Mayor Lightfoot addresses city's efforts to curb neighborhood crime

Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced a new plan Wednesday to address Chicago residents' concerns about violence.

A 61-year-old man was fatally shot on Chicago's South Side Wednesday night.

The shooting occurred in the 7500 block of South Ellis.

At about 6:10 p.m., the victim was near the street when he was shot multiple times in the body.

He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No one is currently in custody.
