7 wounded in shootings Monday on South, West sides

SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - Seven people have been wounded in shootings so far Monday on Chicago’s South and West sides.

The most recent shooting happened about 2:15 p.m. in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. A 27-year-old man was shot in the left leg and a 32-year-old man was shot in the right arm in the 3500 block of West 16th Street, according to Chicago Police. Both were in good condition, but hospital information wasn’t immediately available.

About two hours earlier, two 20-year-old men were shot in the West Side Austin neighborhood. The shooting happened at 12:36 p.m. in the 5700 block of West Augusta, police said. One man was shot in the right shoulder, and another was shot in the groin. They took themselves to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where they were listed in good condition.

About 10 a.m., a man was seriously wounded in another West Side shooting, police said. The 23-year-old man was shot in the back in the 4400 block of West Adams and taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Monday’s first shooting happened about 9:15 a.m. on the Far South Side. A man and woman were shot in the 1100 block of West 98th Street, police said. The 35-year-old woman was shot in the right arm, and the 25-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the elbow. They took themselves to Roseland Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.
