Arrieta scores twice, rallies DC United over Fire 3-1
WASHINGTON (AP) - Jairo Arrieta scored two goals and D.C. United rolled to a 3-1 comeback victory over the Chicago Fire on Wednesday night.
Eastern Conference leader United (8-3-4) has won two straight since snapping a three-game winless skid (0-2-1), and ran its home unbeaten streak to 20 games, breaking the club record.
David Accam scored in the 28th minute to give the Fire (4-6-2) a 1-0 halftime lead. It was all United in the second half.
Arrieta scored on a header in the 61st minute. United took the lead for good when Arrieta passed the ball to Nick DeLeon, who passed it right back to Arrieta. He scored past diving goalkeeper Jon Busch in the 68th minute. Conor Doyle made it 3-1 in the 75th minute, his first goal since August 2013.
United's leading scorer Chris Rolfe did not play while serving his one-game suspension for kicking Philadelphia Union midfielder Vincent Nogueira in the midsection during Saturday night's game. Rolfe was also fined an undisclosed amount.
United defender Chris Korb, midfielder Chris Pontius and starting goalkeeper Bill Hamid also did not play due to injuries.
