Woman pulls out gun at Chicago Premium Outlets Mall, causing 'fear and panic'
A woman was charged after allegedly pulling out a gun Saturday afternoon at Chicago Premium Outlets Mall in Aurora.
AURORA, Illinois - A woman was charged after allegedly pulling out a gun Saturday afternoon at Chicago Premium Outlets Mall in Aurora.
Shamiracle Lee, 26, called 911 to report she was the victim of a crime around 3:20 p.m. and had pulled out a gun on a person involved, according to Aurora police.
Officers responded to the scene and located her handgun nearby. No shots were fired during the incident but it "created fear and panic amongst mall patrons, leading many to hide in nearby stores or run from the area," police said.
Lee, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, violation of the concealed carry act and aggravated assault of a deadly weapon, according to police.
Lee appeared in bond court Saturday and has since been released.
Officers went store-to-store to tell employees and patrons that the incident had been cleared.
Last week, 8 people were shot dead and 7 others wounded by a man with Nazi beliefs and an AR-15 at a mall in Texas.
