Bicyclist hit by Pace bus in Des Plaines critically injured

DES PLAINES, Ill. - A bicyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a Pace bus in Des Plaines Saturday evening.

Edgar Soriano Aguilar, 50, was riding his bicycle westbound on 1000 block of Touhy Avenue around 5:40 p.m. when he swerved to avoid a vehicle, according to a statement from Des Plaines police.

Police say Soriano Aguilar was then struck by a Pace bus that was traveling in the same direction.

Soriano Aguilar was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to officials.

The incident is still under investigation and no citations have yet been issued.
