Bradley officer returns home nearly a year after deadly shooting

A Bradley officer is finally going home after being shot in the line of duty in December of last year.

A Bradley officer is finally going home after being shot in the line of duty in December of last year

Officer Tyler Bailey was on duty with Bradley Police Sergeant Marlene Rittmanic when they were both shot at a Kankekee County Comfort Inn. Rittmanic was fatally injured.

Bailey was critically injured and spent months in a Chicago-area rehab facility.

Law enforcement, family, friends and even strangers lined the streets on Illinois Route 50 from Peotone to salute the hometown hero Wednesday afternoon.

Bailey first joined the force in 2018.
