Beloved dance teacher killed in Buffalo Grove crash while on morning jog
BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. - An elderly man was killed by a car while walking along Buffalo Grove Road Monday morning in the northwestern suburb.
The 87-year-old man was walking along the road around 8 a.m. when he was struck by a Toyota sedan near the Larraway Drive intersection. Paramedics took the man to Northwest Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified him as Roman Mazur.
The 60-year-old woman who crashed the sedan was taken to the same hospital for precautionary measures.
Police said no charges or citations have been issued at this time.
Mazur, a dedicated dance teacher in his community, was struck by a vehicle while on his morning jog, his wife said.
His funeral will take place this Friday at Buffalo Grove Chapel.
