Chance the Rapper performs on SNL, name drops Jason Van Dyke

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Chicago native Chance the Rapper referenced the Laquan McDonald shooting during a performance on Saturday Night Live.

The rapper made his SNL debut as musical guest on the program Saturday night.

During his performance of “Sunday Candy,” the rapper mentioned the name of Officer Jason Van Dyke, the Chicago Police officer charged with shooting McDonald 16 times in 2014.

The rapper declared himself the first independent artist to perform on SNL.

Chance also performed his newly-released single “Somewhere in Paradise”, which featured Jeremih.
