CHICAGO - A school on the Near West Side was placed on a soft lockdown Friday afternoon after a parent sprayed pepper spray at students and staff members.
The parent was arrested and charged following the incident.
According to a spokesperson for Chicago Bulls College Prep, a parent in the school community met with staff members and then entered a classroom without permission.
At that time, the parent instigated an altercation with a small group of students and used pepper spray toward students and staff.

The school contacted campus security and the Chicago Police Department and a soft lockdown was initiated to ensure the safety of staff and students.
The parent was escorted out of the building by campus security staff and then arrested by CPD.
She was identified as 36-year-old Anita Wikens. She was charged with two misdemeanors for criminal trespassing and reckless conduct.
Two staff members were impacted by the pepper spray and transported to a hospital by ambulance.
One student was later transported to the hospital by their family.
