Chicago City Council approves police contract

Chicago police have their first new contract in four years.

Chicago police have their first new contract in four years.

The Chicago City Council on Tuesday approved the contract with the Fraternal Order of Police.

Rank-and-file officers will receive a 20-percent pay raise. Half that is retroactive to 2017 and will cost the city $365 million.

The contract also introduces some new police accountability measures.
