CHICAGO RIDGE, Ill. - A Chicago man is in custody after a crime spree that included a kidnapping, carjacking, and a police chase through multiple towns, authorities said.
Damonte McCorkle, 25, was arrested Dec. 17 following a series of violent crimes earlier in the day, according to Chicago Ridge police.
Police said McCorkle fled from officers earlier in the day, evading arrest on Southwest Highway near 103rd Street. He is accused of kidnapping a woman in Palos Park and carjacking a man in Worth that same day.
McCorkle is accused of carjacking a man in Worth and kidnapping a woman in Palos Park on the same day, authorities said.
After officers located the carjacked vehicle McCorkle was driving, a pursuit began. Police said McCorkle fled through several towns before the chase ended in Crestwood, at the intersection of 135th Street and Cicero Avenue.
McCorkle’s vehicle collided with a Chicago Ridge squad car, and he was taken into custody. Police said he was armed with a handgun, which was recovered at the scene. No injuries were reported.
The stolen vehicle and McCorkle were taken in by the Worth Police Department.
McCorkle is charged by Chicago Ridge police with aggravated fleeing and eluding, fleeing and eluding, and several traffic violations. He is also facing charges from Palos Park and Worth police for aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated carjacking, and armed robbery.
