CHICAGO (FOX 32 NEWS) - Minimum wage workers in Chicago will make $12 per hour starting July 1.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel is expected to announce the minimum wage hike Tuesday afternoon at a press conference in the Little Village neighborhood.
The pay hike is part of a mayoral effort to increase the city's minimum wage to $13 an hour by 2019. Roughly 367,000 employees across Chicago will get a raise due to the increase, according to a mayoral statement.
The city's current minimum wage is $11 per hour.
