Chicago selects official 2019 Christmas tree

Chicago's official 2019 Christmas tree, picked from Elgin, Illinois

Chicago has chosen its Christmas tree.

The official city tree is a 55-foot tall Blue Spruce from west suburban Elgin. It was selected from more than 40 nominees.

City crews will cut the tree down Thursday morning and it will arrive at Millennium Park Friday night.

The tree lighting ceremony is set for Friday, November 22.
