CHICAGO (AP) - The second half of the Copa America semifinal between Chile and Colombia has started after a weather delay of more than two hours due to a strong band of thunderstorms passing over Soldier Field.
A line of storms rolled through the area about two hours before the game Wednesday night, but cleared out in plenty of time for the teams to play the first half. But organizers asked the crowd to seek shelter at halftime, and then lightning was followed by sheets of rain at the home of the NFL's Chicago Bears.
The teams returned to the field about two hours later, drawing big cheers from the fans who waited out the rain.
Chile ended up winning the match 2-0. They will face Argentina in the championship game Sunday in New Jersey.
