A winter snowstorm led to two crashes along Route 14 Thursday evening in Harvard and Cary.

Harvard Rollover Crash

At 7:31 p.m., Harvard Fire Protection District crews responded to the 18700 block of Route 14 for a single-vehicle rollover. A vehicle had veered off the snow-covered roadway and overturned.

By the time emergency responders arrived, the driver had already freed herself from the wreckage. She was evaluated at the scene but declined hospital transportation. Firefighters secured the area and cleared the scene.

Cary Head-On Collision

Less than an hour later, the Cary Fire Protection District was sent to a two-vehicle, head-on collision near Route 14 and Nimco Drive. Emergency crews arrived to find moderate damage to both vehicles.

One driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital for evaluation. The second vehicle carried two adults and two children, all of whom were unharmed.

The crash required westbound Route 14 to be closed for about 45 minutes while responders worked to clear the area.

Authorities remind drivers to reduce speed, maintain safe distances, and stay alert during snowy and icy weather to prevent similar accidents.
