CTA bus driver cited after striking woman, three children on North Side

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A CTA bus driver was issued a citation after striking a woman and three young children Monday morning in the Lake View neighborhood on the North Side.

The CTA bus was heading north in the 3600 block of North Halsted at 10:09 a.m. when it struck the four pedestrians, according to Chicago Police.

The 34-year-old woman and three boys —ages 6, 2, and 8 weeks—were all taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized, police said.

The bus driver was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where their condition was also stabilized, police said.

A CTA spokeswoman said all the injuries appeared to be minor.

The driver was cited for failure to avoid a pedestrian crossing the street in a marked crosswalk, police said.
