Power outage suspends Red, Purple and Brown line service on Chicago's North Side
CTA trains were halted on several lines on the North Side Thursday morning when a signal fell off into the tracks and caused a power outage, according to police.
CHICAGO - CTA service was temporarily suspended for several North Side train lines Thursday morning after a signal fell onto the tracks, causing a power outage near the Belmont station.
Red Line service was halted for hours between Thorndale and Grand during the morning commute. At 11:38 a.m., the CTA said Red Line trains have resumed operating with residual delays.
Purple Line service has also been restored near Belmont.
Brown Line trains were temporarily suspended but resumed service with residual delays around 8:45 a.m.
A CTA spokesman attributed "track issues" at Clark Junction for the suspension of service.
