Small plane crashes at suburban airport

A small plane crashed Wednesday afternoon at a suburban airport.

A small plane crashed into a building at an airport in McHenry County on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at Dacy Airport, located along Airport Road in Harvard, at around 1:20 p.m.

When the Harvard Fire Protection District arrived at the scene, crews located a small single-engine plane on the backside of a hangar at the rear of the property. The plane was positioned nose down and was leaking fuel.

The male pilot had removed himself from the cockpit prior to firefighters arriving. He was not injured.

Crews worked to reposition the aircraft to prevent more fuel from leaking.

SkyFOX was over the scene and captured the plane sitting adjacent to the building, which sustained minor damage and was missing some paneling.

The circumstances of the crash were not immediately known.
