MARION COUNTY, Fla. - It was a very close call for a Marion County Sheriff's deputy and his K9 when an out-of-control vehicle barely missed sideswiping his cruiser.
It happened Saturday morning around 7:15 a.m. on South Highway 441. Dash cam video shows an SUV careening across the median, flipping, and almost hitting Deputy Matt Hooper's cruiser. His K9 "Rambo" was also in the vehicle.
The deputy was not hurt, but he made a u-turn to check on the driver of the SUV.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver had lost control and over corrected, causing the crash. He was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, then cited for careless driving.
