CHICAGO - Elvis has left the building!
The only dog that wasn't adopted during the Anti-Cruelty Society Fall in Love adoption event this past weekend has found his forever home.
Elvis, an American Pit Bull Terrier mixed breed, is three years old and was brought to the shelter as a stray.
"His adopters have been waiting for the right time to welcome a dog into their family and once they saw Elvis on the news, they couldn't deny that it was fate," the Anti-Cruelty Society said on Facebook.
Elvis' new family, Loren, has worked as an Elvis impersonator in the past and plans to keep the iconic name.
When he was brought in, Elvis wasn't putting weight on his back leg, and it was determined that he had a fracture of the pelvis.
Though the fracture has healed, the shelter says he will be prone to arthritis as he gets older.
Loren and Drew are excited to welcome their new family member.
"When no one else wanted him, we found him. We're all a bunch of misfits," Drew told the Anti-Cruelty Society.
