Donald Trump stays in downtown Chicago ahead of Colorado campaign stop: report
Trump stayed in downtown Chicago at Trump Tower Thursday night after a Detroit campaign stop, with heightened security around the property.
CHICAGO - Former President Donald Trump was in Chicago on Thursday night, staying downtown at his namesake Trump International Hotel & Tower following a campaign stop in Detroit earlier in the day.
Heightened security was apparent near Trump Tower, as FOX 32 cameras captured law enforcement officers and K9 units inspecting vehicles.
A security perimeter was established around the property, where salt trucks were used to block nearby streets.
By 9 p.m. Thursday, pedestrian traffic was still flowing freely on Wabash Avenue, but was closed to cars between Wacker Drive and Grand Avenue.
Trump reportedly arrived at O'Hare International Airport in the early evening, following a speaking engagement with the Detroit Economic Club.
He is expected to stay in Chicago overnight, before a scheduled visit to Aurora, Colorado on Friday for a campaign rally at the Gaylord Rookies Resort & Convention Center.
Trump’s arrival in Chicago comes just 48 hours after police and SWAT officers responded to Trump Tower. On Tuesday afternoon, an employee reported seeing firearms in plain view in a hotel guest’s room.
Brandon Peck, 21, of Oakwood, Ohio was arrested and later charged.

Authorities discovered multiple firearms, ammunition, a rifle bag, and a scope in Peck’s hotel room and vehicle.
Peck is now facing two felony weapons charges and other citations.
Trump's running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, will headline a suburban fundraiser on Monday, according to the Sun-Times. Then, on Tuesday, Oct. 15, Trump will return to town to address members of the Economic Club of Chicago.
Similar security measures should be expected on Tuesday when Trump is back in Chicago. It is then that protests are also anticipated, as anti-trump activists are planning rallies to coincide with his appearance.
The Trump and Kamala Harris campaigns are in the final stretch, with less than 30 days to go until Election Day. Recent polls show a tight race between Trump and Vice President Harris.
