Downers Grove library closed as police check ‘suspicious' package

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (STMW) - A library in west suburban Downers Grove is shut down Wednesday afternoon as police investigate a suspicious package in the building.

Staff members at Downers Grove Public Library, 1050 Curtiss St., called police at 2:49 p.m. after finding the package, according to Downers Grove police.

The building was evacuated and the DuPage County sheriff’s bomb squad was called to the scene, police said.

Investigators were still at the scene as of 5:15 p.m. Police did not release other details about the package.
