9-year-old boy shot, caught in crossfire in Chicago

A 9-year-old boy and a man were shot Friday afternoon in Roseland on the Far South Side — the fourth young child to be hit by gun violence this week in Chicago.

A 17-year-old girl was shot Sunday in Roseland on the Far South Side.

Just after noon, she was in front of a residence in the 10100 block of South LaSalle Street, when someone in a vehicle drove past and someone inside fired shots, Chicago police said.

She was struck in the facial area, and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, in good condition, police said.

Police are investigating.
