MIAMI, Fla. (FOX 13) - Witnesses in South Florida tried desperately to stop a driver involved in a crash Sunday morning, but the driver fled anyway and the whole confrontation was caught on video.
Miami police say the driver of a silver Infiniti SUV had crossed the median into oncoming traffic, crashing into a vehicle. Police say the driver, 25-year-old Oleg Maxwell Lagutenko, continued to travel the wrong way and crashed into two more vehicles, according to WSVN.
At the second crash scene, video shows several witnesses yelling at Lagutenko and trying to get him to stop his vehicle. One man was even seen swinging a hammer at the driver's SUV, breaking some of the glass.
Police say that didn't stop Lagutenko from fleeing the scene. He is seen on video putting the SUV into reverse and fleeing again with several other cars going after him.
Police say they finally caught up to Lagutenko, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, according to the arrest report.
Lagutenko is in jail with a $5,000 bond.
