Victim identified in deadly Elk Grove Village fire
A 62-year-old woman was identified as the person who died in a fire Friday morning in Elk Grove Village.
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. - A woman has died after a fire broke out Friday morning in suburban Elk Grove Village.
The fire happened around midnight at a home in the 900 block of Wilshire Avenue, according to police.
Around 1:50 a.m., the fire was put out and a 62-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital, police said.
She was later pronounced dead.
The Cook County Medical Examiner identified her as Cindy Goodwin.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Elk Grove police, Elk Grove Village fire and the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
