2 injured in explosion set off by IED at California courthouse

A person of interest has been detained following an explosion from an improvised explosive device at the Santa Maria Courthouse Wednesday, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

The incident was reported around 8:48 a.m. 

Authorities said the explosion was "intentionally set" but did not provide further details.

Authorities said two people suffered non-life threatening injuries. 

The scene remains active and people are advised to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
