2 injured in Phoenix house fire Friday morning

A home in south suburban Chicago caught fire Friday morning and sent two people to the hospital for minor injuries. One resident of the home said everyone got out, but they lost a lot.

Two people were injured after a home in the village of Phoenix, just south of Chicago, caught fire this morning.

The home is located between South Halsted Avenue and 153rd Street on Vincennes Avenue a few miles away from South Holland

Firefighters from the village of Phoenix and surrounding cities started working on the fire around 6:30 a.m. while flames began shooting out both sides of the home.

Chief of the Phoenix Fire Department Kevin Betton says two people were taken to Ingalls Memorial with minor injuries.

Betton says the fire began in rear of the home.

There is no additional information at this time. The fire has been contained.
