Five injured in crash involving CTA bus on LSD
CHICAGO (STMW) - Five people were injured in a crash involving a CTA bus late Friday on South Lake Shore Drive in the Douglas neighborhood on the South Side.
About 11:30 p.m., four vehicles and a CTA bus with no passengers were involved in a crash in the 3200 block of South Lake Shore Drive, according to Chicago Police.
The driver of a Hyundai Sonata going southbound lost control and hit the bus, which had been waiting for a tow on the side of the road, police said. That crash caused the drivers of three other vehicles— an Infiniti car, an Infiniti SUV and a Cadillac — to lose control. The Infiniti SUV rolled over and landed on its side.
A passenger from the Infiniti SUV and the driver of the Hyundai were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. Three other passengers in the SUV were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. All were released except the driver of the Hyundai, whose condition has been stabilized.
Southbound lanes in the 3100-3200 blocks of South Lake Shore Drive had been closed, but were open to traffic as of 1:40 a.m., police said.
