Car thefts on the rise nationwide: here are the vehicles most targeted

New numbers released on Tuesday show a dramatic surge in car thefts across the country, so experts are sounding the alarm.

A food delivery driver was carjacked Wednesday morning in Humboldt Park on the Northwest Side.

The 56-year-old man was delivering food about 12:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of West Walton Street, when a woman jumped in his 2005 Toyota Highlander that was left running and sped off, Chicago police said.

Area Five detectives are investigating.
