AURORA (STMW) - A former west suburban school district employee has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor.
Jose Corona, 31, is charged with six felony counts of criminal sexual assault and one misdemeanor count of battery, according to a statement from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
Corona was an employee of East Aurora School District 131 when he had sexual contact with a victim under 18 years old several times between Aug. 15 and Nov. 12, prosecutors said. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services received a report Nov. 9 about an inappropriate relationship between Corona and the victim and began an investigation.
He also made “inappropriate contact with a minor” sometime before Oct. 22, which resulted in the battery charge, prosecutors said. He was arrested by Aurora police Friday.
Corona, who lives in the 1300 block of South Glen Court in Aurora, was ordered held on a $100,000 bond Saturday, the state’s attorney’s office said. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 19.
If he is able to post bond, he is prohibited from having any direct or indirect contact with the victims, prosecutors said. He will also not be allowed to have any unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 18 outside his immediate family.
