CHICAGO (Fox 32 News) - A Chicago man was run down and murdered Monday afternoon as he worked on a car on the South Side, and friends say the attack was deliberate.

Friends and family members gathered at the scene where 22-year-old Carlos Alfredo Posada was working on a green Honda Accord behind an Auto Zone in West Chatham about 3 p.m. As a mechanic, he would often pick up extra work there from passerbys.

Police say Posada was struck and instantly killed by a man driving a black Ford pickup truck. The suspect fled the scene after striking Posada.

Someone then chased after the truck and was able to stop it a couple blocks east of the scene at 85th and Lafayette. Police say the driver was arrested and charges are pending.

Posada’s friends say this was no accident. They say he was involved in an ongoing dispute with the hit-and-run driver.

An autopsy Tuesday found Posadas died of multiple injuries from the crash and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.
