Ground stop lifted at O'Hare Airport, departure delay in place

A ground stop was lifted after a couple hours of halted flights at Chicago's O'Hare Airport Monday morning due to weather.

Thunderstorms prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to halt landings and departures at O'Hare Airport around 6 a.m.

The ground stop was in effect for O'Hare until around 8 a.m., when officials announced departure delays.

As of 9 a.m., O'Hare reported 108 canceled flights and average delays of around 30 minutes.

Several Chicago-area counties were placed under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning on Monday morning with wind gusts of up to 60 mph and pea-sized hail.
