Historic Loop skyscrapers to be preserved for future use
CHICAGO - Two century-old skyscrapers in the Loop will be preserved for future use.
The federal government has decided to repurpose the vacant buildings at 202, 214, and 220 South State Street.
Last year, plans to demolish them were scrapped, and now there are proposals to convert the buildings into a collaborative archive center.
A decision on the preservation plan will be issued in September.
