Bus crash on I-290 leaves 1 hurt in Chicago suburb

Illinois State Police said one person was injured in a bus crash that occurred Monday morning.

A bus carrying students and adult administrators crashed on Interstate 290 near west suburban Itasca late Monday morning, leaving one adult injured, authorities said.

Illinois State Police (ISP) responded to the scene on I-290 at I-390 in Cook County around 11:26 a.m. Troopers said the crash involved a bus contracted by the Mount Prospect Park District and a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The bus was carrying 51 students and seven adult administrators, according to police.

A bus full of students crashed on Interstate 290 near west suburban Itasca late Monday morning, resulting in several injuries, police said.

One adult was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries. No students were hospitalized, police said.

The crash occurred amid slick road conditions caused by snow and freezing drizzle that affected commutes across the Chicago area.

The students were then transferred to another bus, authorities said.
