Cook County Sheriff's squad car strikes man who got out of his car on I-94
CHICAGO - Two accidents were reported on Interstate 94 about five minutes apart early Sunday morning, according to Illinois State Police.
At about 1:10 a.m., District Chicago troopers responded to I-94 northbound at Dundee Road for a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian, ISP said.
The driver of a vehicle had just been involved in a crash, exited his vehicle and ran across lanes two and three on I-94, where a Cook County Sheriff's squad car was located.
The squad had its lights activated and was trying to block lane three for traffic control, ISP said.
The squad was backing up when it struck the driver.
The driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On the same expressway about five minutes later, state troopers responded to the northbound ramp at 71st Street for a single-vehicle crash involving an adult and two juveniles, state police said.
All three were taken to an area hospital, where the driver and one of the juveniles were pronounced dead, state police said.
The second juvenile’s condition wasn’t immediately known.
