Joliet man punches sister in front of officers during shooting investigation: police

Arties Titus

A Joliet man was arrested on Christmas Eve following a domestic dispute that led to a shooting and additional confrontations with police.

Arties Titus, 26, faces charges of domestic battery and was also wanted on a Will County warrant.

Officers responded to a call at 9:39 p.m. about a person shot at a residence on the 600 block of Spring Leaf Drive.

Upon arrival, they found a 27-year-old woman on the floor of the garage with a gunshot wound to her left calf.

The woman was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department, where her injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

Authorities believe the shooting occurred during a disturbance among family members in the garage, and the woman may not have been the intended target.

While investigating the shooting, officers faced resistance from multiple individuals in the garage, who were uncooperative and confrontational.

The victim initially provided a statement but later chose not to cooperate further.

During the investigation, Titus punched his 25-year-old sister in the face, prompting his arrest.

Additionally, it was discovered that Titus had an active arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on previous disorderly conduct charges.

Titus was processed and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
