Man, 42, fatally shot in South Shore apartment

CHICAGO - A man was shot and killed in an apartment Sunday night in the South Shore neighborhood.

Chicago police officers found the 42-year-old around 9 p.m., suffering from gunshot wounds to the face and chest in a third-floor apartment in the 7800 block of South Bennett Avenue.

Paramedics took the victim to the University of Chicago Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police said no one was in custody. Area Two detectives are investigating.
