CHICAGO - A teenage boy was charged with carjacking a 59-year-old man at gunpoint Tuesday in Austin on the West Side.
The boy, 17, walked up to the man as he sat in his 2010 Toyota Corolla about 8:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of West Madison Street and forced him out at gunpoint, Chicago police said.
The boy fled in the Corolla, but was found and arrested in the 1600 block of South Ruble Street, police said.
Police initially said the victim was a 30-year-old man.
The boy was charged with felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and is due in juvenile court Thursday, police said.
