BARRINGTON (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A man was struck and killed Tuesday morning by an inbound Union Pacific Northwest train.
The man was struck about 5:50 a.m. at Taylor Street and Route 14 in unincorporated Barrington by train No. 606 , which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 7:02 a.m., according to authorities.
Witnesses said the man walked onto the tracks and stood in front of the approaching train, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office has not released his identity.
Inbound trains were initially halted at Barrington after the crash causing extensive delays, according to Metra.
