Man killed after being shot in the head on West Side

CHICAGO - A man was fatally shot in Chicago's Austin neighborhood Monday night.

At about 8:11 p.m., a 32-year-old man was on the sidewalk in the 800 block of North Lavergne when he was shot in the head by an unknown offender, police said.

The man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
