NORTH RIVERSIDE - The North Riverside Park Mall was closed Sunday after a shooting at the west suburban shopping center left a man wounded.
The man was shot about 12:25 p.m. in the south end of the mall’s lower level, according to North Riverside Police Chief Carlos Garcia.
Garcia did not provide a condition for the man, who is in his 20s, but said that he was conscious while being transported to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The mall has been closed for an investigation, Garcia said. No one was in custody Sunday afternoon.
Sunday’s shooting marks the second such incident at the North Riverside Park Mall in less than a month. Earlier in June, a 22-year-old man was shot to death behind the mall’s Olive Garden restaurant.
