Massive 5,000-square-foot American flag unveiled at Macy's

A major Memorial Day display went up in downtown Chicago Friday to kick off the weekend.

CHICAGO - A major Memorial Day display went up in downtown Chicago Friday to kick off the weekend.

Officials raised a 5,000-square-foot flag at Macy's on State Street. It is the world's largest American flag to hang in a department store.

The symbolic tradition started back in 1916 as a way to honor those who have served.

It will remain in place through July 10.
