Man found dead after being hit by train in Lake Forest: police

Trains are moving again on Metra’s Union Pacific North line Wednesday morning after a body was found near the tracks in the north suburbs.

The crew of train 315, which was scheduled to arrive in Waukegan at 8:51 a.m., reported the body near the tracks shortly after 8:40 a.m. between the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff stations, according to Metra spokeswoman Meg Thomas-Reile.

Lake Forest police said the man, thought to be in his 40s, appeared to have been hit by an earlier train.

His death remains under investigation by Lake Forest police, Metra police and the Lake County coroner’s office. He has not yet been identified.

UP-North trains were halted in both directions as authorities investigated, according to Metra. Service resumed by 11:15 a.m., although trains were running about 15 to 30 minutes behind schedule.
