Body pulled from Lake Michigan identified as man reported missing last weekend
A person pulled from Lake Michigan at Oak Street Beach early Wednesday has been identified as man who was reported missing over the weekend in the River North neighborhood.
CHICAGO - Chicago police are conducting a death investigation after the body of a missing Polish man was recovered from Lake Michigan early Wednesday, days after his disappearance.
Krzysztof Szubert was found unresponsive in the water at Oak Street Beach just before 2 a.m. in the 1000 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive, according to officials. Police said the 21-year-old man had a laceration to the right side of his head.
He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Szubert, who was from Tiffin, Poland, had been staying in a hotel since November while working on a project in southwest suburban Joliet as a software developer for Knapp Incorporated, a global tech company.

Body of missing Polish man pulled from Lake Michigan; death investigation underway
A death investigation has been launched after the body of a missing Polish man was recovered from Lake Michigan Wednesday morning days after his disappearance.
Szubert went missing Saturday night after going to a popular River North bar with his friends.
The group visited the Chriskindlmarket before spending two hours at the Howl at the Moon bar at 26 W. Hubbard St., where Szubert was last seen around 9:45 p.m.
"We figured that since we couldn't find him inside the bar, wasn't picking up his phone, he just took an Uber back with somebody else," said a friend, Michal Osiecki.

Man from Poland goes missing in River North
A man from Poland temporarily working in the suburbs went missing after a night out in Chicago.
On Sunday morning, Szubert's friends realized he was missing and returned to River North to retrace their steps and put up posters.
Szubert was scheduled to return to Poland next weekend.
